Transitional Kindergarten

Kara Schroeder

About: Miss Kara grew up in Madison, Wis., but she has lived in California for the past 20 years. She and her husband have four children together. In her spare time, Miss Kara enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, taking her dog to the dog beach, and crafting.

Miss Kara taught 3rd-5th grade in Milwaukee after she graduated from college in 1997. When she and her husband started a family, she decided to go back to school for early childhood education. From 2009-2021, she was the director and morning teacher at a preschool in Santa Ana, Calif. Miss Kara is passionate about early childhood education and believes young children learn best through playful, active, hands-on learning experiences in a loving, nurturing environment.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn. Early Childhood Director Qualifications and Units completed at Santa Ana College, Santa Ana, Calif.

Kindergarten

Kate Aguilar

About: Mrs. Aguilar grew up in Milwaukee as the second of six children. She loves going to the beach, playing sports, hiking mountains, drinking coffee, and spending time with friends and family. Mrs. Aguilar’s mission as a teacher is to motivate, encourage and support students by providing a secure, safe and loving environment to educate them spiritually, emotionally, socially and cognitively. Her goal is for students to build a Christ-centered foundation for lifelong learning. She is excited to build relationships with students and families!

1st Grade

Becky Dyrssen

About: Mrs. Dyrssen grew up in San Jose, Calif., where her father served as pastor. She and her husband, Dale, have three children and two grandchildren. She enjoys hiking, fishing, reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her family whenever she can. Mrs. Dyrssen believes a well-structured classroom in a loving Christian environment promotes the social, spiritual, and academic training that a child needs. She is committed to setting up her students for future academic and personal success. We are blessed to have Mrs. Dyrssen as a teacher on our campus for over 25 years!

Educational Background: Bachelor’s of Science in Education from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota. Twenty-seven years of teaching experience.

2nd Grade

Emily Glodowski

About: Miss Glodowski grew up in western Wisconsin along the Mississippi River, where her parents owned a small dairy farm. She enjoys spending time at the beach, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and traveling with friends and family. Miss Glodowski believes that a classroom environment begins with a Christ-centered loving relationship between the teacher, students, and parents contribute to the overall success of a student. She looks forward to being a part of your child’s spiritual and academic growth at Carlsbad Christian Academy. 


Educational Background: Bachelors of Science in Education from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn. Nineteen years of teaching experience.

3rd Grade

Lacey Waters

About: Miss Waters grew up in Watertown, Wis.,with an older sister and twin brother. She is grateful to God for the opportunity to share Jesus with children and their families at Carlsbad Christian Academy. When Miss Waters is not in the classroom, she enjoys trying new restaurants and local coffee shops, playing board games and doing crafts, hiking, traveling and trying new things. Miss Waters believes that God has uniquely created each child and thus each child learns differently. She enjoys figuring out how each child learns, meeting them where they are at, and helping them to grow in their academics and knowledge of their Savior, Jesus Christ.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s of Science in Education with a minor in Educational Technology from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn.

4th Grade

Marissa Shiery

About: Mrs. Shiery the first five years of her teaching career sharing God’s saving message in Bay City, Mich. Mrs. Shiery and her husband, Joe, have one baby on the way and a cat. She enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling to new places, spending time with family and friends, and trying new restaurants. She is very excited to share God’s loving Word with the students and families of Carlsbad Christian as well as create a fun, loving, and safe learning environment in the classroom!

Educational Background: Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn.

5th Grade

Joe Shiery

About: Mr. Shiery is originally from Escondido, and he and his wife met at Martin Luther College and began their teaching ministry in Bay City, Mich. Now he is excited to be back home again, as well as start a family with a baby on the way. Mr. Shiery loves playing basketball and volleyball. He also greatly enjoys playing and writing music on the piano and organ. In the classroom, he is privileged to have the opportunity to share God's Word with the students at CCA, as well as foster a positive classroom environment for all learning needs.

Ethan Aguilar

About: Mr. Aguilar is a native of Southern California and spent three of his childhood years attending Carlsbad Christian Academy when it was known as Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School. He is excited to be back at the school as a teacher! In his free time, Mr. Aguilar enjoys playing any sport with a ball, watching Marvel movies, and learning to surf. Mr. Aguilar strives to have a classroom environment that every student feels comfortable in. He wants to reach every student and get to know their individual needs to help them succeed and to prepare students for a life of learning, leading, and serving faithfully wherever God leads and directs them.

Learning Resource Teacher

Bethany Carter

About: Mrs. Carter was born and raised in Oceanside. She and her husband have three children. She enjoys family trips to the beach, river, desert, and mountains. Mrs. Carter feels blessed to be able to teach about God's love in all subjects and is excited to see the students’ love grow for their Savior.

Educational Background: Bachelors in Psychology from California State University, San Marcos. Multi-Subject Credential and Masters in Education from National University.

DAVE ROEKLE

About: Mr. Roekle and his wife, Hannah, have three children. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, being active outside, and cheering on all things Michigan sports. Mr. Roekle is passionate about sharing Jesus with the students and families of CCA and assisting all students in developing their unique God-given gifts and abilities.
